Special Award for Dedicated Young Lady

3An 11 year-old girl has been recognised for her dedication and hard work in helping to clean up her neighbourhood. Melissa Griffiths sacrificed days from her own school summer holidays to participate in the St Asaph litter-pick project, which aims to tidy up St. Asaph with litter picks throughout the town.

Although a number of volunteers gave up their free time to take part in the project, Melissa was the only person who turned up at each event to tidy up the community. There were 6 litter picks organised in total and they have all resulted in St. Asaph being a clean and tidier place to live.

PCSO Dave Jones who orchestrated the project, wanted to award Melissa for her commitment to the project with a special certificate, which was presented at the North Wales Police DHQ building in St. Asaph. Melissa’s parents, who also took part in the litter picks, outlined how eager their daughter had been to give something back to the community.

It was also a project which allowed Melissa to take pride in and build her own self-confidence within the community.

Well done, Melissa, for all your hard work!
