His purpose is to raise funds and increase publicity in support of Anglesey’s vulnerable young people. He asks for your help.

Our communities face a growing problem. Around 24 per cent of Anglesey’s young people between the ages of 16 and 24, often without training or work experience, are unemployed. They need fresh opportunities, activities and encouragement at a time of mounting economic pressure across Wales.

This affects us all. The island’s harmony and social order are at stake, as well as the needs of the young people themselves.

The funds that The Walk raises will help the county’s voluntary organisations provide more opportunities for work experience, confidence-building activities and other practical initiatives. It’s time for all of us on Anglesey to contribute and share the responsibility. The matter’s too serious to be left to the authorities alone, at a time when their own budgets are shrinking.

With expert advice, the High Sheriff’s charity, Crimebeat, will allocate the funds raised to the local charities and other innovative bodies that really understand the issues through their hands-on experience.
