High Sheriff’s £17,000 Fund Launched


New projects sought for Anglesey’s young people.

 ‘Get your bid in now!‘ – That’s the call of ex-High Sheriff of Gwynedd & Anglesey, Robin Grove-White, toAnglesey’s community and voluntary organisations, as he announced this week’s opening of bids for a portion of the £17,000 raised through his recent 125-mile Round-Anglesey charity Walk.

 Five grants of up to £2000 and one for £5000 are on offer to community or voluntary organisations on the island who can come up with schemes aimed at creating new work or training opportunities for unemployed young people in the county.

 Official figures show that more than 24% of 16-24-year-olds inAngleseyare currently jobless.

‘I hope this High Sheriff’s funding initiative will stimulate imaginative new initiatives by the county’s third sector bodies, aimed at improving the prospects of our young people however modestly, at what is an increasingly difficult time for most people’, said Professor Grove-White today.
