The Eastern Division Police Cadets had the chance last weekend to visit Kingswood Colomendy, an outdoor education centre near Mold, for a team building weekend thanks to the help of a local officer.
PCSO Poppy Hadfield-Jones applied for a Police And Community Trust (PACT) grant for the cadet division and has made a huge impact with her application as she was successful in gaining a £250 grant.
Thanks to the money, 19 police cadets had the opportunity to visit the centre which helped to build their teamwork, communication and leadership skills as well as aiding in building their relationship as a group. A part of their work is to develop problem-solving solutions that target community issues and they are encouraged to work in a timely and efficient manner. This extra time spent together will aid them in this part of their work.
The overall aims of the North Wales Police Cadet Programme are to promote a true understanding of policing amongst all young people, encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship, support local policing priorities through volunteering and give young people a chance to be heard and to inspire young people to participate positively in their communities. From this weekend, the unit can emerge stronger as a whole and encourage those individuals who may currently be less confident and self-assured. This will benefit the both the unit and wider community as a whole.
Dave Evans from North Wales PACT said, “PACT is delighted to be able to continue our support of the Volunteer Police Cadets. We know from previous experience that these team-building events are extremely popular and provide the Cadets with activities that they may not otherwise have the chance to do. None of this would be possible without their volunteer leaders from North Wales Police who provide valuable support and encouragement to the Cadets throughout the year, and on behalf of PACT I would like to thank them for all their hard work supporting our young people.”

Rhan o’r cwrs oedd datblygu sgiliau datrys-problemau sy’n targedu materion cymunedol a chael eu hannog i weithio mewn modd effeithiol ac amserol. Bydd yr amser ychwanegol yma maen nhw wedi ei dreulio gyda’i gilydd yn gymorth iddyn nhw yn y rhan yma o’u gwaith.
Prif nod Rhaglen Cadetiaid Heddlu Gogledd Cymru yw hybu gwir ddealltwriaeth o blismona ymysg pobl ifanc i gyd, hyrwyddo ymdeimlad o antur a dinasyddiaeth dda, cefnogi blaenoriaethau plismona drwy wirfoddoli a rhoi cyfle i bobl ifanc gael eu clywed ac i ysbrydoli pobl ifanc i weithredu’n gadarnhaol yn eu cymunedau. Bydd yr uned yn mynd ymlaen o’r penwythnos hon yn gryfach ar y cyfan ac yn gallu ysbrydoli’r unigolion yna sydd efallai yn llai hyderus. Bydd hwn yn fuddiol i’r uned a’r gymuned ehangach fel y’i gilydd.

Ni fyddai dim o’r hyn yn bosibl oni bai am yr arweinyddion gwirfoddol o Heddlu Gogledd Cymru sy’n rhoi cefnogaeth werthfawr ac anogaeth i’r Cadetiaid drwy’r flwyddyn, ac ar ran PACT dymunaf ddiolch iddyn nhw am eu holl waith caled i gefnogi ein pobl ifanc.”
