DJ Diamonds Morris Dancers have received funding from Clwyd Crimebeat to purchase a new sound system, helping young dancers develop their skills and perform with confidence.
The new equipment allows music to be slowed down or sped up to suit different ability levels, making it easier for dancers to learn new routines before gradually increasing the tempo as their confidence and technique improve. The sound system will also support rehearsals, competitions and public performances, ensuring high-quality sound wherever the group performs.
The grant will benefit young people of all ages who attend DJ Diamonds, providing a fun, welcoming environment where they can stay active, build friendships and develop valuable life skills. Through regular sessions, members learn the importance of teamwork, commitment and supporting one another, while enjoying the physical and mental wellbeing benefits that come from exercise and being part of a community group.
High Sheriff of Clwyd, David Jones, recently visited DJ Diamonds alongside his High Sheriff Cadet, Holly Stobbart, to see first-hand how the grant will benefit the group. They met with members during a session, watched the dancers in action and heard about the positive impact the new sound system will have on training and performances.
This grant will help ensure the group can continue to provide opportunities for young people to stay active, build confidence, develop lasting friendships and represent their community through traditional dance.
