The High Sheriff of Gwynedd, Marian Wyn Jones, has recently seen how two Crimebeat projects have been supporting young people:
A YOUTH scheme in Pwllheli which encourages informal social learning has gained a £1,000 grant from the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat fund.
Cynllun Ieuenctid Pwllheli (CIP) has been running in the town for five years and provides a safe, informative and supportive environment for young people. The youth project offers interactive workshop information sessions, homework support and music sessions, not just during the evenings but also at weekends.
It also provides the youngsters of Pwllheli and Pen Llŷn with opportunities to take part in organised events and activities, and is a distraction from anti-social behaviour.
The High Sheriff said: “Crimebeat is delighted to be able to support Cynllun Ieuenctid Pwllheli’s valuable work with local young people.
“CIP is a marvellous example of a well-managed scheme that provides a focus for the young people of Pwllheli and surrounding areas, offering support and advice about contemporary issues that affect our young people.”
Cllr Michael Sol Owen, who is the chairman of CIP, says the project is extremely grateful for the donation. He said: “We are very grateful to the high sheriff for the donation of £1,000 towards helping to keep this valuable service for young people open.
“Due to cutbacks we have lost a number of grant funders, so donations of this nature are an important source of support.”
The High Sheriff also paid a visit to the Eglwys Noddfa Playscheme in Caernarfon who received a grant of £500, and was delighted to hear that Crimebeat funding had allowed the playscheme to open for an extended period over the school holiday period.
On her visit the High Sheriff saw 50 young people taking part in structured activities led by volunters from Eglwys Noddfa, and heard how the young people were qeueing up to get in to the playscheme when it opened at 9.00am. The playscheme provides a wide range of activities from arts and crafts, drama and games.

Mae cynllun ieuenctid ym Mhwllheli sy’n annog pobl ifanc i ddysgu mewn amgylchedd anffurfiol wedi cael grant o £1,000 gan gronfa Trechu Trosedd yr Uchel Siryf.
Mae Cynllun Ieuenctid Pwllheli (CIP) wedi bod yn weithredol yn y dref ers pum mlynedd ac mae’n darparu amgylchedd diogel, addysgiadol a chefnogol i bobl ifanc. Mae’r prosiect yn cynnig sesiynau gwybodaeth ar ffurf gweithdai rhyngweithiol, cefnogaeth gyda gwaith cartref a sesiynau cerddoriaeth nid yn unig gyda’r nos ond hefyd yn ystod y penwythnosau. Mae hefyd yn rhoi cyfle i bobl ifanc Pwllheli a Phen Llŷn gymryd rhan mewn digwyddiadau a gweithgareddau trefnedig ac mae’n ffordd o’u hatal rhag ymddwyn yn wrthgymdeithasol.
Meddai’r Uchel Siryf: “Mae Trechu Trosedd yn falch iawn o allu cefnogi gwaith gwerthfawr Cynllun Ieuenctid Pwllheli gyda’r bobl ifanc leol.
“Mae CIP yn enghraifft wych o gynllun sy’n cael ei reoli’n dda sy’n rhoi ffocws i bobl ifanc Pwllheli a’r ardaloedd cyfagos, gan gynnig cefnogaeth a chyngor ar faterion cyfoes sy’n effeithio ar ein pobl ifanc.”
Fe ddywedodd Cyng Michael Sol Owen, Cadeirydd CIP, bod y prosiect yn ddiolchgar iawn am y rhodd. Meddai: “Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn i’r Uchel Siryf am y rhodd o £1,000 tuag at helpu i gadw’r gwasanaeth gwerthfawr hwn ar agor i’r bobl ifanc.
“Oherwydd yr hinsawdd ariannol gyfredol rydym wedi colli nifer o noddwyr ac felly mae rhoddion o’r math hwn yn ffynhonnell bwysig o gefnogaeth.”
Hefyd mi wnaeth yr Uchel Siryf ymweld â Chynllun Chwarae Eglwys Noddfa yng Nghaernarfon a gafodd grant o £500, ac roedd yn falch o glywed bod cronfa Trechu Trosedd wedi galluogi’r cynllun chwarae i agor am gyfnod estynedig dros y gwyliau. Yn ystod ei hymweliad gwelodd yr Uchel Siryf 50 o bobl ifanc yn cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau strwythuredig dan arweinyddiaeth gwirfoddolwyr o Eglwys Noddfa, a chlywodd bod y bobl ifanc yn ciwio i gael dod i mewn pan roedd y cynllun chwarae yn agor am 9.00am. Mae’r cynllun chwarae yn cynnig amrywiaeth eang o weithgareddau megis celf a chrefft, drama a gemau.
